(May 28, 2008) Downtown Los Angeles – For the 13th year, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard hosted a free workshop to provide local non-profit organizations and municipalities with assistance in obtaining grant application materials and the latest information on how to prepare federal grant proposals. Located at The Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities on N. Alameda Street, federal officials were on hand to explain what they look for and to provide technical assistance on grant writing. The federal agencies that provided assistance at the workshop included: the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC); Administration for Children and Families (ACF), via video conference; and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The California Endowment, a private health care-related foundation, also provided information on grants to community-based organizations throughout California. Pictured in the group photo from left to right: Silvia Dawson, CDC; Ana Gonzales, HRSA; Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard; Michelle Dirst, SAMHSA; and Robert Alaniz, The California Endowment.
