Preparing for Medical School

  • The Association of American Medical Colleges provides a list of medical schools in the United States and Canada as well as information about curriculum and admission requirements.

  • The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine offers information about osteopathic medical schools in the United States.

Premedical Opportunities

  • The American Association of Medical Colleges lists schools that offer postbaccalaureate premedical programs in the United States. These programs are designed for students who have graduated from college, but need to complete additional course work in the sciences before applying to medical school.

  • The National Institutes of Health's Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award and the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Research Training Award Fellowships provide opportunities for college graduates to spend a year engaged in biomedical investigation at NIH or selected off-campus locations. Participants work side-by-side with leading scientists. During their tenure in the programs, fellows are expected to initiate the application process for graduate or medical school.
