Disability Employment Business Case
Among its portfolio of assets to assist employers in locating, hiring, and promoting employees with disabilities, The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) has two nationwide toll-free services: The Employer Assistance and Recruiting Network (EARN) and the Job Accommodation Network (JAN). Both JAN and EARN have recently collected data that can help employers understand and help others promote the benefits to employers of hiring people with disabilities.
The Employer Assistance and Recruiting Network (EARN), a national toll-free telephone and electronic information referral service is designed to assist employers in locating and recruiting qualified workers with disabilities. EARN can be reached at 1-866- EARN NOW (327-6669) or via its website.
EARN conducted focus group research in 13 major metropolitan areas. These focus groups, representing a range of industry sectors and sizes, sought answers from executive-level managers and human resources professionals to understand their concerns about disabilities in the workplace. Through the focus groups, these participants shared their most pressing workforce issues as well as their reactions to messages and facts about workers with disabilities.
More information about the findings from the EARN focus group research is available here.
Information about the research conducted by The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is here.
