The Presentation of The
Américas Award for Children and Young Adult Literature by
the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP)
The Hispanic Division and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress
will host the annual Américas Award for Children’s
and Young Adult Literature on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 10 a.m. to
12 p.m. in the sixth floor Mumford Room of the Madison Building, 101 Independence
Avenue, S.E. in Washington, D.C.

The Américas Award is given in recognition of U.S. works of fiction,
poetry, folklore, or selected non-fiction (from picture books to works for
young adults) published in the previous year in English or Spanish that authentically
and engagingly portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinos in
