U.S. Dept. of Labor to Hold Compliance Assistance Forum For Employers at Seattle University.

SEATTLE -- The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will hold a Seattle Employers’ Forum Monday, Nov. 15 at Seattle University to assist employers in understanding the federal workplace laws and programs that DOL administers.

The free Forum will be held at Seattle University’s LeRoux Conference Center, 901 12th Ave., from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Following brief presentations by several departmental leaders, DOL agencies will conduct individual workshops covering employment law issues as follows:

• Employment Services Administration Wage and Hour Division will cover: new Overtime Security Rules, minimum wage, child labor laws;

• Employee Benefits Security Administration will cover: ERISA, federal pension law, COBRA;

• Veterans Employment and Training Service will cover: employment and reemployment rights of returning reservists, guard members and military personnel;

• Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs will cover: affirmative action regulations for federal contractors and subcontractors;

• Apprenticeship and Training, Employer Labor Services will cover apprenticeship training programs; and

• The Women’s Bureau will cover their programs aimed at enhancing opportunities for women in the workplace.

Admission is free; however, space is limited to 280 attendees. Employers may register by calling (206) 398-8055.
