Wage and Hour Division Officials at Mexican Consulate Site March 4 and 5

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --

The U.S. Labor Department announced today the availability of Wage and Hour Division staff during a Mexican Consulate event March 4 and 5 in Biloxi.

The Mexican Consulate, located in Atlanta, Ga., will temporarily set up a branch office at the Mississippi Immigrant Rights Alliance (MIRA) to administer passport and visa services for Mexican nationals living and working in the area.

Representatives from the Gulf Coast Wage and Hour Division office will be available both days to answer questions, screen complaints and distribute Department of Labor publications.

The U.S. Labor Department is working with the Mexican Consulate to ensure Hispanic workers are aware of the worker protections under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The MIRA office is located at 178 Main St., Suite 103, Biloxi. About 400 people are expected to attend the event.
