Availability of TAB EZ

This is software designed to help organize your assessment or cleanup grant proposal according to proposal guidelines. It also provides example proposals. While EPA is not endorsing this tool, we want to make sure that communities know about its availability.

Kansas State University (KSU) under the Technical Assistance to Brownfield Communities
(TAB) cooperative agreement #TR83389401 with EPA has developed a software tool called
"TAB EZ" that can assist communities who are applying for assessment and cleanup grants
under EPA's Fiscal Year 2009 Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup
(ARC) grant competition. TAB EZ was developed by KSU and CABEM Technologies, Inc. as a
public service. TAB EZ is available free of cost to everyone nationwide. More information
about TAB EZ
is available at the KSU website. Exit EPA

New Report: The Environmental and Economic Impacts of Brownfields Redevelopment

The Northeast-Midwest Institute has completed a new report entitled "The Environmental and Economic Impacts of Brownfields Redevelopment." The report estimates: one dollar of public investment in brownfields leverages eight dollars in total investment, jobs are leveraged in brownfields projects with a ratio of between $10,000 and $13,000 of new public investment needed to create/retain one job, one acre of redeveloped brownfields corresponds to 4.5 acres of preserved greenfields and case studies of brownfields sites indicate that redevelopment of brownfields sites reduces vehicle miles traveled by 20 to 40 percent compared to sprawl development, while simultaneously reducing air emissions and greenhouse gases.
