PITTSBURGH, PA—November 7, 2008—The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) today received the CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ accreditation from the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, in recognition of its effort to improve the health of employees and reduce their risks of cancer. The CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ is awarded only after a company meets or exceeds the rigorous requirements set out by the CEO Roundtable on Cancer. Read more.
PITTSBURGH, PA—September 3, 2008—The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) has announced that it will offer the Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse examination beginning in 2010. The decision to offer a pediatric certification examination that encompasses both oncology and hematology is based on the results of a comprehensive role study of pediatric oncology nursing practice conducted earlier in 2008. The results of the role study indicated that hematology is a significant component of pediatric oncology nursing practice nationwide. Read more.
PITTSBURGH, PA—August 12, 2008—The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) recently submitted written testimony to the Republican and Democratic Platform Committees asking that tobacco control be added to their health platforms. The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (S. 625/H.R. 1108) is bipartisan legislation that grants the Food and Drug Administration the authority to regulate the production, sale, and marketing of all tobacco products.
