Announcements

  • CDC staff introduced. Nathan Crawford is newest member of CDC’s VFC/AFIX team. He spent the past 7 years in the Oregon VFC/AFIX program.
  • Tony Richardson has returned from military duty and has resumed the responsibilities as Storage and Handling contact. You can reach him at 404.639.8374. Or, LMR7@cdc.gov
  • The VFC contacts on the CDC’s VFC webpage were updated on 6/11/2007. The list was updated from the names provided in the last VFC Management Survey. Please check to see that your information is correct.

VFC/AFIX Activities Workgroup

  • Nathan announced the re-start of the workgroup that advises the CDC/ISD/POB on VFC and AFIX activities. This group was formerly known as the Clinic Provider Assessment Workgroup (CPAWG), and the new name reflects the intent to address VFC and AFIX issues.
  • The purpose of this group is, “to serve in an advisory capacity to the CDC in the implementation and continuous improvement of the VFC and AFIX programs.”
  • A 1-page description of the workgroup and a 1-page application will be made available to all VFC and/or AFIX coordinators with the notes from this meeting (on Thurs, 6/28). The application is due to CDC by July 13.

2008 Program Announcement Review

  • John Flynn reviewed key VFC/AFIX requirements in the new 2008 Program Announcement and the 2008- 2012 Immunization Program Operations Manual (IPOM).
  • Colorado asked for clarification about the length of the application. John is following up on that.
  • Oregon asked about the possibility of seeing the accountability objectives that other grantees have written in the past. Nancy is following up on that.

VFC Operations Guide Review

  • Nancy Fenlon announced 3 conference calls during the month of July to address important changes to the VFC Operations Guide.
  • July 10, 2-3 pm EST: Review of Fraud and Abuse module. Note that all grantees are required to submit a written fraud and abuse policy to CDC by Dec. 31, 2007.
  • July 17, 2-3 pm EST: Review of Provider Recruitment and Enrollment module. Note that all grantees are required to submit their provider enrollment form(s) for review by Oct. 1, 2007.
  • July 24, 2-3 pm EST: Review of other key changes/updates to the VFC Operations Guide.
