The Food and Waterborne Diseases Integrated Research Network

The Food and Waterborne Diseases Integrated Research Network (FWD IRN) facilitates the integration of research programs to develop products to rapidly identify, prevent, treat, and diagnose food- and waterborne diseases that threaten public health. This group of seven contracts provides expertise in the areas of clinical research, immunology, microbiology, and zoonoses to address priority research and product development needs for food- and waterborne pathogens.

The FWD IRN includes the capability to develop and evaluate vaccines, therapeutics, and rapid detection methods; integrate human mucosal immunity with clinical research; and define the ecology and microbiology of food- and waterborne zoonoses as well as drug-resistant pathogens.
