Agency Information  
The Office of the Public Defender contracts with four public defense agencies to provide legal services to our clients. They handle about 90% of King County’s public defense cases, the remainder going to the assigned counsel panel. Find out more about the four public defense agencies here.

Assigned Counsel
OPD uses assigned counsel attorneys for cases where there is a conflict with all four of the contract defense agencies. Approximately 10% of the total King County public defense caseload goes to the assigned counsel panel. Find out more about the assigned counsel panel and how to apply.
