Subsistence Hunting
 
  • Subsistence Hunting is Permitted in both Wrangell- St. Elias National Park and Wrangell-St. Elias National Preserve.
  • Sport Hunting is permitted in Wrangell-St. Elias National Preserve ONLY.

Are YOU eligible to subsistence hunt?


 

Both federal subsistence and State of Alaska sport hunting are permitted in Wrangell-St. Elias National Preserve. State sport harvests are regulated by the Alaska Board of Game while federal subsistence harvests are regulated by the Federal Subsistence Board.

To be eligible to hunt in the park or preserve under federal subsistence regulations, you must be considered a local rural resident.
