PICKERING: USDA FUNDS FOR NOXUBEE COUNTY
$305,600 for water system improvements

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Congressman Chip Pickering announces a USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Grant for the City of Macon. The grant of $305,600 will be used to provide water system improvements in Noxubee County along Business Highway 45 North.  Currently, there are 22 existing residents and 3 small businesses which are not served by a public water service.  This grant will provide funding to install approximately 12,000 linear feet of new 8 inch water mains and an emergency generator to provide water service to this area.

Pickering said, “It is essential to meet the growing needs of our communities. This access to public water will allow for a healthier environment, expansion and increased economic development in Noxubee County. I am pleased to see USDA award this grant to the City of Macon.”

USDA Rural Development Mississippi is dedicated to providing programs to rural communities and individuals to promote economic and community growth including housing, community facilities, utility systems, and business and economic growth.

Congressman Chip Pickering represents Mississippi’s Third Congressional District and serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.  This is his sixth term.
