Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement in response to a Bush administration announcement on new chemical security rules that do not allow states and localities to strengthen regulations in the future.
"While I'm glad the Bush administration has decided it will not get in the way of New Jersey's chemical security regulations, the rule announced today would prevent the state from ever taking stronger action if it chose to do so. This is simply unacceptable, and only reinforces the need for Congress to pass a comprehensive chemical security bill to replace these interim regulations." |
