Accessible Recreation Opportunities

[Image] Accessible Fishing Platform at the Hat Creek Campground Lassen National Forest offers a number of recreation facilities designed with accessibility in mind for persons with disabilities. Accessible fishing piers, paved trails, specially designed campsites, and accessible picnic tables are all available. The following is a list of accessible areas with links to more information about the area. Golden Access Passports

A lifetime pass available to citizens or permanent residents of the United States who have been medically determined to be blind or permanently disabled for purposes of receiving Federal benefits. In addition to an annual entrance pass, the Golden Access cardholders will continue to receive a 50% fee discount at campgrounds, developed boat launches and swimming sites and for specialized interpretive services. The pass is free.

ALMANOR RECREATION TRAIL Almanor Ranger District, Hwy. 89, 5 miles South of Chester, CA.	April to November	Ten mile long, paved trail. Non-motorized; No horses. Bicycles, Hiking, Cross-country skiing offered in winter. Very scenic. Also see Almanor Area Adventures.
BOGARD REST AREA Operated by Caltrans, Hwy. 44, 25 miles West of Susanville, CA.	Year Round	RV Parking, Flush Toilets. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
CAVE CAMPGROUND Hat Creek Ranger District, Hwy. 44, at Old Station, CA.	Year Round	Accessible vault toilet, campsite, and fishing platform. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
CANYON DAM Almanor Ranger District, Highway 89, 12 miles South of Chester, CA.	April to December	Newly constructed fishing platform; Accessible flush toilets. Day use area for picnicking. Year round for Fishing and Boat launch. Also see Almanor Area Adventures.
CHRISTIE DAY USE Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1, 15 miles North of Susanville, CA.	May to October	Accessible vault toilet at Day Use Area. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
EAGLE CAMPGROUND Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1, 15 miles North of Susanville, CA.	May to September	Two newly constructed RV camping spurs. One spur w/full hookups. One spur with water and electric. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
EAGLE LAKE AMPHITHEATER Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1, 15 miles North of Susanville, CA.	June to August	Adjacent to Merrill Campground, accessible vault toilet and pathway. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
GALLATIN MARINA Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1, 15 miles North of Susanville, CA.	May to December	Full service marina w/ accessible showers, breakwater trail, and the Eagle Lake trail. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
GOUMAZ CAMPGROUND Eagle Lake Ranger District, on Forest Road 30N03, 3 miles S of Hwy. 44, 10 miles West of Susanville, CA.	June to September	Accessible campsite, pathways, and vault toilet. Adjacent to the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
GURNSEY CREEK CAMPGROUND Almanor Ranger District, 13 miles West of Chester, Ca. on Hwy. 36/89.	May to October	Newly installed vault toilets w/ pathways adjacent to accessible single and group areas. Close to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Also see Almanor Area Adventures.
HAT CREEK CAMPGROUND Hat Creek Ranger District, Highway 44/89, 1 mile South of Old Station, CA.	May to October	Accessible fishing platform. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
HAT CREEK RIM OVERLOOK Hat Creek Ranger District, Highway 44, 3 miles North of Old Station, CA.	April to December	Scenic and interpretive opportunity, RV parking, picnic area. Fully accessible. Views of Lassen Peak & Mt. Shasta. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
LASSEN CROSSROADS Lassen Volcanic National Park/Lassen National Forest, located at the North (Manzanita Lake) entrance to the Park on Highway 44/89.	April to October	Fully accessible unstaffed information center that helps plan a visit within Lassen National Forest and Lassen Volcanic National Park. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
McCARTHY POINT LOOKOUT RENTAL Almanor Ranger District, North of Highway 32.	May to October	Accessible Fire Lookout for rent. Two room cabin w/kitchen and bedroom. Paved trail from parking to lookout. MERRILL CAMPGROUND Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1, 15 miles North of Susanville, CA.	May to December	Eastside of campground to be reconstructed to meet accessibility requirements in 2004. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
OLD STATION DAY USE Hat Creek Ranger District, Highway 44/89, 1/2 mile South of Old Station, CA.	Year Round	Accessible fishing platform, recently installed vault toilet. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
OLD STATION VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER Hat Creek Ranger District, Corner of Highway 44 & 89 at Old Station, CA.	April to December	Accessible interactive exhibits, maps, books, information and picnic area. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
OSPREY OVERLOOK Eagle Lake Ranger District, County Road A-1 to Eagle Lake, 4 miles East on Gallatin Road, past Eagle Lake Children's Camp. 17 miles North of Susanville, CA.	June to September	Scenic overlook of Eagle Lake and Osprey nest. Picnic area, trail, parking. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
PANORAMIC VISTA POINT Hat Creek Ranger District, Highway 44/89, 5 miles South of Old Station, CA.	Year Round	Scenic and interpretive opportunity. Views of Lassen Peak. Deer Hollow Paved Trail winds through a tree plantation. Picnic area, vault toilet. Also see Hat Creek Area Adventures.
ROXIE PECONOM CAMPGROUND Eagle Lake Ranger District, Forest Road 29N03 off Highway 36, 8 miles West of Susanville, CA.	May to September	Ten accessible walk-in campsites. Two vault toilets. Annual Maidu Bear Dance in June. Also see Eagle Lake Area Adventures.
