Recreation Activities
The Wallowa-Whitman offers a full range of year-round
recreational activities. To help you find out more information on
the choices available the forest has set up a Pick
your Place or Pick your Activity guide.
Recreation Reports
These Recreation Reports are periodically updated by
the Ranger District recreation and visitor information staff to provide
campground, trail and access conditions throughout the year.
Commercial Outfitters and Guides
The Forest issues permits to commercial businesses
to operate recreational activities on the National Forest. List
of services offered.
Recreation Special Use Permits
(Outfitter and Guides, Recreation Events, Group Use)
Many commercial activities require a recreation special use permit. To find out about the permit process.
Commercial Filming and Photography Permits
A filming permit may be needed for commercial film and still photography activities on the Forest.
Wilderness Areas
The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest has stewardship
responsibilities over four Wilderness
Areas.
Wild and Scenic Rivers
Ten Wild and Scenic Rivers designated by Congress from 1975 to 1988 are managed by the Forest.
