Battery Act Enforcement Programs

EPA is developing its Battery Act Enforcement and Compliance Assurance programs. EPA plans to begin this by developing an outreach program for battery and product manufacturers, battery waste handlers, product importers and retailers, and battery trade associations. One of the first products was the Battery Act Enforcement Alert. EPA is also required by the Battery Act to establish a public education program on battery recycling and the proper handling and disposal of used batteries. The Agency also intends to develop a program to ensure that the use of batteries containing mercury is phased out.

As the programs are developed, information will be posted on this site.
