Description: | On June 20, BISNIS hosted a briefing with a delegation from the Government of Georgia, led by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Giorgi Arveladze. The delegation included two Deputy Ministers of Economic Development, Representatives from the Department of Tourism, and the Vice President of the National Bank of Georgia. Commerce Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe Paul Dyck, the Ambassador of Georgia Vasil Sikharulidze, and Millennium Challenge Corporation Program Officer Brent Hodkey joined the delegation from Georgia in addressing approximately 80 attendees from the private sector, NGOs, and government organizations. Speakers highlighted the recent reforms that the Georgian government has recently implemented which have created a friendly and dynamic market for foreign investors. In particular, reforms in the banking sector, changes in the tax code, and a reduction of corruption have brought about conditions in which the World Bank "Doing Business" study ranked Georgia in the top range of countries. | |||||||
