Safe Pesticides and Products Research

EPA's Goal for 'Healthy Communities and Ecosystems'
"Protect, sustain, or restore the health of people, communities, and ecosystems using integrated and comprehensive approaches and partnerships."

Safe Pesticides and Products Research - EPA's objective is to prevent and reduce pesticide, and industrial chemical risks to humans, communities, and ecosystems. ORD research provides the scientific foundation for EPA regulatory decisions and policies about pesticides and toxic substances. ORD's program is described fully in a multi-year research plan: Safe Pesticides and Products MYP.

NERL's Safe Pesticides and Products Research Program is an integral part of ORD's and is directed to help ORD achieve three long term goals by providing the scientific foundation for: (1) prioritization of testing requirements and enhanced data interpretation; (2) probabilistic ecological risk assessments; (3) decisions about biotechnology products; and (4) decisions about selected high priority agents (pesticides and toxic substances).
