Abstract:

Notice is given that the Bendix Friction Materials Division of the
Automotive Sector of Allied-Signal Inc., facility located at Cohoes
and Tibbits Ave., Green Island (Troy), New York 12181 has applied
for a temporary variance and an interim order pending a decision on
the application for a variance from the standard prescribed in 29
CFR 1910. 1001(o)(2)(viii) which specifies July 20, 1988 as the
start-up date for 29 CFR 1910.1001(f)(1) which requires engineering
controls and work practives to reduce and maintain employee exposure
to asbestos to or below the exposure limit to the extent feasible.
This interim order shall remain in effect until October 20, 1988, or
until a decision is rendered on the application for variance.
