Future Scientific Positions

The following positions will be open shortly. You may submit your CV/résumé for consideration for these or other future opportunities, and it will be reviewed within NIAID. These positions are subject to change and/or cancellation. This is not an official application process.

Medical Officers

2 positions available

General duties may include but are not limited to; advise and participate in the development, management, and evaluation of multi-center or other clinical trails; interpret data to determine the safety and efficacy of agent or interventions being evaluated; review and evaluate adverse drug events on an on going basis. Develop and maintain liaison with relevant national and international professional societies, scientists and lay organizations to enhance dissemination of research advances and foster their application in the clinical setting. Manage a portfolio of grants and contracts and develops new research initiatives. Design, implementation and/or oversight of clinical trials.

Requirements: United States Citizenship, M.D., and at least 5 – 10 years of experience in clinical research.

Health Specialist

1 position available

General duties may include but are not limited to; working on a team with project managers, nurse consultants, regulatory affairs specialists and medical officers to provide oversight and guidance of clinical research in various scientific areas and to develop and evaluate processes and procedures related to those responsibilities. Oversight, management and operational functions pertaining to development and implementation of clinical trials; serves as a member of individual protocol development teams; and works with clinical sites to assure compliance with protocol requirements, the protection of rights, welfare and safety of patients, the achievement of enrollment targets, and retention of study participants.

Requirements: United States Citizenship, Ph.D., B.S. in health sciences or allied sciences, and at least 3 – 10 years experience in conducting clinical research trials to ensure quality clinical trials, quality reliability of study data, and the safety and welfare of human subjects.

Nurse Consultant

1 position available

General duties may include but are not limited to; overseeing clinical trial development, i.e. protocols, case report form and manual of operations document development as well as site establishment and study readiness. Overseeing clinical trials by site monitoring activities, and reviewing site monitoring reports. Monitors sites for protocol and regulatory compliance by reviewing site reports and staff qualifications. Provides guidance to site staff throughout the course of the study.

Requirements: United States Citizenship, Ph.D., R.N. and at least 5 – 10 years of experience in clinical studies.
