The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Insurance Program provides products that address the insurance needs of the U.S. domestic airline industry not adequately met by the commercial insurance market.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Extension Act of 2008 extends the requirement to provide federal aviation war risk insurance through November 30, 2008. The President approved the provision of insurance to the extent provided in chapter 443 of 49 U.S.C until August 31, 2008 and delegated discretionary authority to the Secretary of Transportation to provide coverage through December 31, 2008. The Secretary of Transportation has directed the FAA to provide war risk insurance until December 31, 2008.
