Earnings mobility in the United States, 1967-91

The young, the less educated, and blacks have more instability in their earnings than do those who are older, more educated, or white. This article addresses two important questions concerning earnings mobility in the United States. First, how do patterns of earnings mobility differ by sex, age, race, and education? Second, how have mobility patterns changed over time?
