The Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation has more than 75,000 volunteers working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure to save lives and end breast cancer by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Since its inception, the Komen Foundation, with its Affiliate Network had raised $600 million for the fight against breast cancer.
