McIntyre Announces Recertification of Wilmington as “A Coast Guard City”

Washington, D.C. -  U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre announced today that Wilmington, North Carolina, has been recertified as “A Coast Guard City” by the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard.

Congressman McIntyre stated, “Wilmington’s long and distinguished affiliation with the United States Coast Guard has rightly earned this special designation.  From the participation in festivals and community events to the work with local charities, the Coast Guard is an integral part of the community, and this recertification will continue to positively identify and benefit Wilmington for years to come.”

In 2003, Wilmington was first certified as “A Coast Guard City” and this recertification will continue for five years.  On Saturday, July 26, a special ceremony to announce the “A Coast Guard City” recertification will be held in downtown Wilmington in front of the Coast Guard Dilligence cutter at 10:00 a.m.

Congressman McIntyre is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee.
