When I started transferring skills from my work role to the citizen role, I asked myself how I had successfully performed these skills in the worker context. I identified several indicators of success: 1) I completed the specific task successfully (fewer corrections needed to be made) indicating growth in my knowledge base; 2) I completed the task more quickly & without referring to notes, indicating an increase in fluency; 3) I began to be able to teach others about the task. I think the identification & transfer of existing skills can be of enormous benefit to Welfare-to-Work participants. The ability to identify existing skills helps build confidence & creates a foundation for looking at the next step - transferring the skills. I can easily envision using the EFF framework to identify existing knowledge & to begin a discussion about how one knows he/she is successful in that area. I have not worked w/Welfare-to-Work participants, so the above is speculation on my part, but I am curious about how teachers have used EFF in this context.
