Comprehensive International Program of Research on AIDS (CIPRA)

Program Announcement

The CIPRA program supports comprehensive research and development efforts in eligible nations to develop practical, affordable and acceptable methods to both prevent and treat HIV/AIDS in adults and children. To date, 33 CIPRA awards have been made to institutions in 24 different countries.

Goals of CIPRA

  • Provide long-term support for planning and implementing a comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment research agenda including, epidemiological, clinical and laboratory research on HIV/AIDS 
  • Enhance the capability and capacity necessary to conduct research by providing support for continual training of project staff at all levels as well as support for infrastructure (facilities, renovations, and equipment) which are necessary for developing and sustaining ongoing research efforts
