FORMER MANAGER WITH LOCAL CONTRACTING COMPANY SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR IN PRISON FOR PERPETRATING BILLING SCHEME AGAINST EMPLOYER
– Ordered to pay $604,000 in restitution

LOUISVILLE, KY - Jeffrey Todd Moore, 42, of Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for engaging in a fraudulent billing scheme against his former employer, Hussung Mechanical Contractors, Inc., U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Chief Judge John G. Heyburn, II, United States District Court, also sentenced Moore to 2 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system. In addition, Judge Heyburn ordered Moore to pay $604,667.67 in restitution to the victim of his crimes, Hussung Mechanical Contractors, Inc. Prior to sentencing, in accordance with the terms of his plea agreement with the United States, Moore made an initial payment of $200,000 toward his restitution obligation.

On January 8, 2008, the defendant admitted that between January 1998 and March 2002, while employed as a project manager with Hussung Mechanical Contractors, Inc., he caused his employer to pay over $600,000 for parts, supplies and equipment purportedly furnished to job sites operated by Hussung Mechanical Contractors, Inc., which were never supplied to the job sites in question. The proceeds derived from the scheme were channeled to an account in the name of BD Sales & Service, Inc., and expended therefrom by the defendant and, co-defendant, Rodney Lee Blackburn for their personal benefit and gain.

The sentencing hearing for co-defendant, Rodney Lee Blackburn, is scheduled for October 3, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Lesousky, and it was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
