Iowa City Man Sentenced to 200 months Imprisonment for Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine

Davenport, IA - On June 16, 2008, John Paul Reed, 30, was sentenced to 200 months imprisonment, having previously pled to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Reed to serve ten years on supervised release following imprisonment, and an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.


From on or about November 13, 2006, and continuing to on or about February 2, 2007, Reed sold a total of fifty-two (52) grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant during four controlled purchases.


This case was investigated by the Iowa City Police Department, Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Drug Task Force, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, the Iowa Department of Public Safety, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
