Ottumwa Man Sentenced On Gun Charge

DES MOINES, IA - On February 8, 2008, Timothy Michael Sharp, age 36, of Ottumwa, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 100 months imprisonment for being a felon in possession of a firearm announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge James Gritzner also ordered Sharp to serve a three year term of supervised release, and imposed an assessment of $100.00 to the Crime Victim Fund.


On August 23, 2007, Sharp entered a plea of guilty to the felon in possession of a firearm charge. At the time of his plea, Sharp stipulated that on June 27, 2006 he possessed a .12 gauge shotgun after previously being convicted of a felony offense.


This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Southeast Iowa Interagency Drug Task Force, Ottumwa, Iowa Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
