Des Moines Man Sentenced On Child Pornography Charge

DES MOINES, Iowa - On December 19, 2007 Troy Michael Barnes, age 37, of Des Moines, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 78 months imprisonment for receiving child pornography, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Barnes to serve a ten-year term of supervised release, and to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.


On August 23, 2007, Barnes entered a plea of guilty to the child pornography charge. At the time of his plea, Barnes stipulated that from August 2005 to January 22, 2006, he utilized the internet to download child pornography to his home computer.


This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
