Des Moines Woman Sentenced For Social Security Fraud

DES MOINES, IA - On November 29, 2007, Denise Ann Robertson, 43, was sentenced in United States District Court in Des Moines, to five (5) years probation for making false statements to the Social Security Administration, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Court Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Robertson to pay restitution to the Social Security Administration, in the amount of $20,835.40 and imposed an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.

Robertson had been receiving Social Security Disability benefits, which required her to disclose any employment. Robertson admitted that she knowingly made a false statement to the Social Security Administration when she claimed she had not been employed, when she knew that she was currently working.

The investigation was conducted by the Office of Inspector General for the Social Security Administration. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
