ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED TO 27 MONTHS AFTER ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LUIZ ANTONIO NASCIMENTO, a/k/a Paulo Nascimento, age 47, a resident of Brazil, was sentenced this morning in federal court by U. S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan to twenty-seven (27) months imprisonment for illegal re-entry into the United States, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

Additionally, the defendant be placed on supervised release for a period of three (3) years. After serving his sentence he will be deported immediately to his native Brazil.

According to court documents, on March 26, 2008, LUIZ ANTONIO NASCIMENTO, an illegal alien who has an extensive criminal history and two previous deportations from the United States in 1994 and 1995, was again unlawfully found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without have applied to the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.

The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
