MARRERO WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT TO BANK THEFT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAMMIE WASHINGTON, age 54, a resident of Marrero, pled guilty in federal court yesterday before U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to one count of bank theft, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.

According to the factual basis, WASHINGTON was employed as a bank teller by Capitol One Bank and on several occasions between June and December, 2007, she stole a total of approximately $27,000.00 from her teller drawer and used the money for her own personal gain. The defendant faces a possible maximum penalty of ten (10) years imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 14, 2009.

This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Juan M. Masini.
