MEXICAN CITIZEN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT TO DOCUMENT FRAUD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BENY CORTEZ-PEREZ, a citizen of Mexico, pled guilty before U. S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle to two counts of fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents, authentication features and information, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, CORTEZ-PEREZ sold fraudulent green cards and fraudulent Social Security cards to a confidential informant working with Special Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Additionally, the defendant admitted that he uttered forged alien registration receipt cards.
The defendant faces a possible maximum penalty of fifteen (15) years imprisonment as to first count and a possible maximum penalty of ten (10) years imprisonment as to the second count.
The case was investigated by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
