ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JOSE DANIEL FUENTES-VASQUEZ, a/k/a Jose Daniel Fuentes and Jose Daniel Vasquez, age 30, a resident of Honduras, was sentenced today by U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to five (5) months imprisonment, with credit for time served for possession of a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the prison term, Judge Lemmon ordered that the defendant be placed on two (2) years of supervised release and pay a special assessment in the amount of $100.

According to court records, the defendant pled guilty on April 16, 2008, to a one count indictment admitting that on February 6, 2008, he was in the country illegally and was found with a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card in St. Bernard Parish.

The case was investigated by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Social Security Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
