ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY AFTER ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JUAN HUMBERTO HERNANDEZ YONES, age 24, a resident of Honduras, pled guilty today before United States District Court Judge Carl Barbier to a one-count indictment for illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on April 20, 2008, JUAN HUMBERTO HERNANDEZ YONES, an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without have applied the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.

United States District Court Judge Carl Barbier scheduled his sentencing date for October 1, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. YONES faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two (2) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and one year of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
