ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

May 22, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEDDIE OBDULIO-PIEDA, age 28, a resident of Guatemala, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to six (6) months in imprisonment with credit for time served after pleading guilty to one-count of illegal re-entry by a deported alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, NEDDIE OBDULIO-PIEDA was charged by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2007, and subsequently pled guilty to being an alien who was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States in Orleans Parish without the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, having expressly consented to his re-application for admission into the United States.

The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
