NEW ORLEANS MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT TO BANK ROBBERY

ROBERT LEE ELLIOTT, age 37, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court to a federal felony involving bank robbery, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
ROBERT LEE ELLIOTT "ELLIOTT" pled guilty before U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to one count of robbing on February 29, 2008, a FDIC insured institution, the Homestead Savings Bank located at 3829 Veterans Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana.
The case was investigated by agents for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Tony Gordon Sanders. The investigation revealed that ELLIOTT entered the bank area and demanded monies from the teller. He escaped from the bank with approximately $3,840.00, but was arrested later that evening by FBI agents investigating the robbery.
ELLIOTT faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty years, a maximum fine of $250,000 and a term of supervised release following imprisonment of three years. Judge Lemmon ordered a pre-sentence investigation and report for the court, remanded defendant back to jail and ELLIOTT's sentencing for a later date.
