MAN SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO DISORDERLY CONDUCT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JULIAN TORRES, age 55, pled guilty to one-count of disorderly conduct, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

JULIAN TORRES was sentenced to one year probation, $250.00 fine and $10.00 special assessment after pleading guilty before U. S. Magistrate Judge Alma L. Chasez to one count of disorderly conduct. The single count carries a maximum statutory penalty of six months imprisonment.

JULIAN TORRES was charged with knowingly and unlawfully using language, utterance, gesture, and engaging in a display or act that is obscene, physically threatening and menacing, and done in a manner that is likely to inflict injury or incite an immediate breach of the peace.

JULIAN TORRES was charged in a bill of information on October 25 2007.

The case was investigated by the Department of Interior, National Park Service, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Law Enforcement and Investigations Division, Barataria Unit.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
