ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO IMMIGRATION VIOLATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JOSE DANIEL FUENTES-VASQUEZ, a/k/a Jose Daniel Fuentes, a/k/a Jose Daniel Vasquez, age 31, a resident of Honduras, pled guilty before United States District Court Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for possession of a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

Judge Lemmon scheduled a sentencing date of July 23, 2008 at 2:30 P.M.

According to the factual basis, on February 6, 2008, JOSE DANIEL FUENTES-VASQUEZ, an illegal alien, was found with a counterfeit Permanent Resident Alien Card in St. Bernard Parish. The defendant faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Social Security Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
