MAN INDICTED ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE
March 7, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLINTON RODRIGUEZ, a/k/a “South,” age 30, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was charged in a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury yesterday for a federal drug trafficking offense, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the indictment, RODRIGUEZ, who has been in federal custody since his arrest on February 27, 2008, is charged with possession with intent to distribute a quantity of heroin. Last week, authorities indicated that defendants cooperating with the Government have pointed to RODRIGUEZ as the source of heroin in and around the Carrollton area in New Orleans.
If convicted of the charge, the defendant faces not more than twenty (20) years of imprisonment, a fine of $1 million and at least three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This prosecution is being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Emily Greenfield.
