ALIEN SENTENCED AFTER ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANKLIN OMAR CRUZ-VELASQUEZ, age 25, a resident of Honduras, was sentenced by Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to six (6) months confinement and one year of supervised release after pleading guilty to illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, on July 27, 2007, FRANKLIN OMAR CRUZ-VELASQUEZ, an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States without have applied to the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-admission to the United States.

FRANKLIN OMAR CRUZ-VELASQUEZ, will be deported to Honduras after his release from confinement.

The case was investigated by the U. S. Border Patrol. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
