ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED TO 13 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON

JOSE ELIAS TINOCO GRANADOS a/k/a JOSE ELIAS, age 33, a resident of Mexico, was sentenced yesterday by U. S. District Judge Martin Feldman to thirteen (13) months imprisonment with credit for time served for illegal re-entry into the United States after previously being deported, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Feldman imposed one (1) year of supervised release following the term of imprisonment. During the one year term, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

On November 9, 2007, JOSE ELIAS TINOCO GRANADOS a/k/a JOSE ELIAS previously entered a guilty plea before Judge Feldman admitting that on August 17, 2007, he illegally re-entered the United States without the permission of the United States Attorney General or the Department of Homeland Security.

The Court imposed a sentence within the recommended guidelines range and as per a plea agreement. After sentencing, JOSE ELIAS TINOCO GRANADOS a/k/a JOSE ELIAS was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin serving his imprisonment.

This investigation was handled by Special Agents of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
