FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS FOUR LOUISIANA RESIDENTS FOR CRIMINAL INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHTED MATERIALS

Today, a Federal Grand Jury has returned three separate indictments charging four Louisiana residents with Criminal Infringement of Copyrighted Material, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. TODD CLARK, age 29 of Houma, Louisiana was charged in a two-count with Criminal Infringement of Copyrighted Materials; TANNER D. HILLS, age 27, of River Ridge, Louisiana, was charged in a two-count indictment with Criminal Infringement of Copyrighted Materials, and ADBEL KHELIK, age 32 and AHMAD KHELIK, age 33, both of Westwego, Louisiana, were charged in a third indictment with two counts of Criminal Infringement of Copyrighted Materials and third count of Criminal Trademark Infringement.

According to the indictment, the defendant, TODD CLARK distributed both motion picture DVDs and music CD’s. The indictment alleges that the movies ““Eragon”, “Spiderman 3”, “300”, and “Vacancy” were among the copyrighted works that were pirated and copied without the consent of the copyright holder. It is also alleged that copyrighted recordings of Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Babyface and Usher as well as other artists were copied and sold without permission.

If convicted, TODD CLARK faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and two (2) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment for each of the two counts of the indictment.

The second indictment charges that the defendant, TANNER D. HILLS distributed both motion picture DVDs and music CD’s. The indictment alleges that the movies Borat”, “Bambi”, “300”, and “Premium” were among the copyrighted works that were pirated and copied without the consent of the copyright holder. It is also alleged that copyrighted recordings of Tupac, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dog, Jay-Z and R Kelly as well as other artists were copied and sold without permission.
