THREE MORE TANGIPAHOA RESIDENTS FACE FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

January 25, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On December 13, 2007, MATTHEW SAVONA, age 37, LISA SAVONA, age 34, ROBERT LABOURDETTE, JR., age 28, AMANDA LABOURDETTE, age 25, and NEAL HIGGS, age 24, all residents of Tangipahoa Parish were originally indicted a few weeks ago for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Today, U. S. Attorney Jim Letten announced that an additional three defendants MINDY HIGGS, age 22, BRIAN FORET, age 28, and CARL AARON FLETCHER, age 25, also of Tangipahoa Parish, were indicted by a Federal Grand Jury for the same charge of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

If convicted, the defendants face a mandatory minimum of five (5) years imprisonment, up to forty (40) years imprisonment, a maximum $2,000,000 fine, at least four (4) years supervised release, and a $100 special assessment cost. According to the superseding indictment, all of the defendants participated in a conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendants must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case was investigated by Hammond Police, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sivashree Sundaram.
