ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

OSCAR EDUARDO CORDON-ALONZO, age 24, a resident of Honduras, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to six months with credit for time served, after pleading guilty to one-count of illegal re-entry by a deported alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
CORDON-ALONZO was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 17, 2007 and pled guilty on October 18, 2007. According to court documents, on July 30, 2007, an Orleans Parish Sheriff Deputy encountered OSCAR EDUARDO CORDON-ALONZO and arrested the defendant on charges of battery and resisting an officer. Further investigation determined that CARDON-ALONZO had been deported to Honduras on August 7, 2006 and that he had reentered the country illegally.
The case was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The prosecution was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
