ALIEN SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EDWIN MASARIEGOS-BACA, age 28, a resident of Honduras, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle to six (6) months incarceration with credit for time served after pleading guilty to one-count of illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
EDWIN MASARIEGOS-BACA was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on July 27, 2007.
MASARIEGOS-BACA was charged with being an alien who was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States in Jefferson Parish, LA without the Attorney General of the United States or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, having expressly consented to his re-application for admission into the United States.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
