July 24, 2003, Washington, DC:  Secretary Powell chatting with students Lara Macardle, (left) and Danielle Roberts,  from London, who spent the day shadowing the Secretary. This unusual opportunity is the result of an agreement made between Secretary Powell and former U.K. Foreign Secretary Robin Cook on the occasion of their first bilateral meeting in February 2001 in Washington, DC. The shadowing program is designed to highlight U.S. and British young people who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives and serve as role models for other young people.   [text] View a short video of one of the day's events.
