Have students measure how much sugar or gasoline their families use in
a week. Compare this to the amount allocated each family during World
War II.

own ration books.

in a week, compare or contrast this to the amount allocated each family
during World War II, and write an expository essay explaining the difficulties
of rationing.
Have students review the primary source documents shown here, then write
an essay comparing or contrasting the home-front efforts during World War
II with recent events such as September 11, 2001 or the war in Iraq
